West Bagborough - A quintessential Somerset Village On The Quantock Hills

The village of West Bagborough is the main village in the Parish. The parish stretches from the A358 to the West, Triscombe to the North, Shopnoller to the South and to Birches Corner in the East.  It also incorporates much of Lydeard Hill open country and common ground. Most of the Parish nestles on the western slopes of the Quantock Hills within the Quantock Hills A.O.N.B.

At the Eastern edge of the Parish is Lydeard Hill from where you can get an amazing view of Taunton Deane, the Blackdown Hills and, on a clear day, you might even spot the top of Dunkery Beacon on Exmoor. At the Western end of the Parish, above the hamlet of Triscombe is Triscombe Stone from where views stretch across to the Brendon Hills with glimpses of Exmoor beyond. A more detailed article on the village and adjoining hamlets can be found here.

The Popham Hall, which serves as the Village Hall , was rebuilt in 2014 and now provides an excellent modern meeting point not only for the Parish but also for anyone who wishes to hire it. The parish church of St Pancras sits high above the village close to Bagborough House.

The Parish owns a delightful play park suitable for younger children and also the Cricket Ground which is leased to our very active Cricket Club.

There are two pubs, several places to stay, a traditional garden nursery and a traditional cream tea shop. Details can be found in the local business pages.
