Community Infrastructure Levy.

By Parish Clerk West Bagborough

West Bagborough Parish Council

The Community Infrastructure Levy is a charge paid by developers to fund new infrastructure required as a result of many types of development. The interesting thing for the Parish is that a proportion of the fund comes back to the Parish for us to decide how to spend it.

So we would like to hear your views about what projects we could develop to spend these funds. At the moment we have approx £4000 to spend!

The money can be used to fund a wide range of infrastructure that is needed as a result of development. This includes new or safer road schemes, flood defences, schools, hospitals and other health and social care facilities, park improvements, green spaces and leisure centres.

The levy is intended to focus on the provision of new infrastructure and should not be used to remedy pre-existing deficiencies in infrastructure provision unless those deficiencies will be made more severe by new development. The levy can be used to increase the capacity of existing infrastructure or to repair failing existing infrastructure, if that is necessary to support development.

The Parish Council have been looking at using this money to part fund some road improvements for the road through the village. This would be done alongside a County Council initiative for small highway projects.

BUT you may have other and better ideas.

Please let us know what ideas you have. You can contact us here

or better still tell one of your Parish Councillors about your ideas.
